Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck

 The novel is about two guys, George and Lennie. The former is a small man with sharp and strong features while the latter is an impressive individual and quite dumb. I really enjoyed the novel, this being the first novel that I read, written by Steinbeck . My favourite quotation from the text is:
"A water snake glided smoothly up the pool, twisting its periscope head from side to side; and it swam the length of the pool and came to the legs of a motionless heron that stood in the shallows. A silent head and beak lanced down and plucked it out by the head, and the beak swallowed the little snake while its tail waved frantically."

A novel about life...

Mircea Eliade - Nouasprezece trandafiri

Just finished reading a short novel by Mircea Eliade (my favourite Romanian writer), Nouasprezece Trandafiri. It's about a writer (A.D.P - Anghel D. Pandele) and his friend who is writing his Memoires (Pandele's Memoires). I don't want to tell you what happens in the book..I want to let you discover...but trust me, you won't regret reading it. And the ending...what an ending! You will never know what happened to Pandele (meanwhile he started writing theatre) ..whether he died or he went (incognito) abroad or...
Now, I just started "Isabel si Apele Diavolului", see what happens. Anyway, if you love this kind of fiction (because Eliade is one of a kind), I strongly recommend it.

Delta Dunarii - un paradis pierdut

17 - 19 august 2010 - Delta Dunarii

Nu am fost exact in Delta Dunarii, ci intr-un sat lipovenesc de pe marginea Lacului Razim (localnicii ii spun Razelm), loc in care revin de cand aveam 4 ani. Un loc aparte unde timpul parca a stat in loc...pe o colina in zare se vad zidurile impunatoare a ceea ce a fost odata cetatea de la Enisala. Pensiunea la care am stat se numeste "Colt de rai", iar numele spune totul. Chiar seamana cu un colt de rai. (este cea cu acoperisul albastru :D). De la mal se poate vedea si insula Popina, un tinut sterp locuit de serpi si pasari. Desi nu am stat decat trei zile, au fost trei zile pline. Prima zi am petrecut-o la piscina. A doua zi de dimineata am plecat la Tulcea sa vizitam Acvariul (unul dintre cele mai frumoase si mai interesante din tara).

In poza se pot vedea sturioni. O sa postez mai multe poze pentru ca e pacat sa nu impartasesti asemenea frumuseti.
                                                                                    

Au o mare varietate de specii de pesti, atat de la noi din tara cat si "straini" ca sa le zic asa. Pesti de recif, crapi portocalii, anghile, stele de mare, arici de mare, rechini. In sfarsit...daca ajungeti in Tulcea este un "must". Pe langa pesti, acvariul mai contine si scene rupte din salbaticie. Pasari si animale impaiate care infatiseaza salbaticia. Pe langa lupi, tot felul de specii de pasari intalnim si rozatoare sau animale de talie mai mare..precum caprioare sau ursi. Pe mine locul acesta m-a cucerit, pur si simplu. Parca nu imi venea sa mai plec.

Intorsi de la acvariu, ne-am oprit la un magazin cu articole de pescuit din Tulcea, sa cumparam momeala. Ajunsi la pensiune am luat unditele ne-am urcat in hidrobicicleta si ne-am indreptat spre locul pe care il ochisem...langa stuf, acolo la rece ii place sa stea. :)

Nu sunt niste monstri, dar ne-am facut placerea. In plus aici Cristina a prins primul peste din viata ei...un guvid. Ultima zi am petrecut-o plimbandu-ne cu hidrobicicleta pe lac...apoi ne-am reintors spre aglomerata Constanta cu gandul sa revenim din nou la anu...

THE FIRST

This is the first thing that I post on my "newly created blog". A bit excited about this, don't know exactly what to write, don't exactly who is going to read the things that I post, but it doesn't really matter as long as I like it. I will write about the things I like, mind that the list is not that long.
